Revisionist Western

There's very little information on this band, but it appears to be three Maori women playing literally some of the scuzziest doom/crust I've ever heard. It sounds like having an aneurysm while getting crushed to death. The raspy vocals complement the guttural music nicely, as well. I'd compare them to something like a slightly more punk Body Void or Primitive Man. Also, check out that album artwork. DAHTM is not messing around with this EP. The word "Agowilt" refers to the sensation of feeling physically ill due a a sudden, overwhelming fear. This is something I actually experience frequently. I am an anxious person and it's not uncommon for me to go dizzy with a sudden surge of nauseous dread. So if you name your band Agowilt, best deliver, friends.  And deliver Agowilt does. The description for the band lists them as "blackened doom," which is fair, but I think there's a sort of low-fi, 90s, heavy sludge element here. Something like Suffering Luna or Jesuit. Contemporarily, a band like Thou or Nightfell might be an apt comparison. Certainly they have a raw blackened sound, and yes, it's applied to slow, heavy music, but there's a definite influence of late 90s/early 2000s hardcore that really appeals to me.
